Cooling - Frio Thermoelectric Coolers
Thermoelectric, or Peltier cooling, is a solid-state method of heat transfer generated primarily through the use of dissimilar semiconductor materials. The solid state systems are “green” air conditioners. They operate like a heat pump, sandwiching the peltier devices between two heat sinks, and transferring heat from one side/sink to the other. The peltier effect allows one sink to become cold through absorption of energy by the electrons as they pass from one semiconductor to another through the use of a DC power source. The heat sink on the opposite side is then used to discharge the accumulated heat energy from the system
Calienté has incorporated innovative design to most efficiently take advantage of the power provided to our thermoelectric system. This saves on the cost of larger or additional power supplies, and keeps your customer’s energy costs lower. The designs for outdoor enclosures are robust and design with industrial sealed fans, along with fittings and components to pass NEMA 4X, IP54 and higher, as well as Telecordia GR-487 specs. Calienté is also pursuing UL recognition on the coolers.
The assemblies offer between 40W and 300W of solid-state thermoelectric technology in a size and package size that are an ideal fit for small to medium-sized enclosure cooling needs. With no compressor or coolant to be concerned with, Calienté’s thermoelectric cooling offers a highly reliable and environmentally “green” cooling/air conditioning option. Multiple units can be used for higher heat loads, which also provides a level of system redundancy.
